Since 2020 we have been using the Powergate 3+. An OBD flash tool with which you as a customer could write tuned software into the engine control unit yourself. 5 years later it is time for the successor, the Powergate4.

The big difference is that the PWG4 is controlled by your mobile phone. But more importantly, the ZF 8HP50/75 gearbox can now also be written to with the PWG4.

Via a hotspot or WiFi connection, your mobile phone and the PWG4 are connected to a cloud where the tuned software can be downloaded. The PWG4 is connected to your phone via Bluetooth.

How does it work?

1) Download the Powergate 4 app to your mobile phone via the app store.
2) Create an PWG4 account.
3) The app has clear instructions that provide step-by-step instructions and explanations.
4) Perform an ID (virtual read) of the engine and/or gearbox software.
5) This data is uploaded to the cloud.
6) We will receive a message so we can return the tuned software back in the cloud. Please send us an email as well to confirm this.
7) You will receive a message and are able to write the tuned software to your car.

Please take in account that we don’t work 24/7. Alse be aware of global time differences.

Tuning in stages

It is not mandatory to perform both engine and gearbox tuning at the same time. This can be done in steps. For example, first the engine tuning and at a later time the gearbox tuning. Or add Race engine. Or the Hrbride tuning for the 2.0T models. On request, we can prepare both the engine and gearbox tuning in the cloud as needed. After that it’s a matter of updating the PWG4 and uploading the new tuning to the car.

Extra features

The PWG4 has a diagnostic function so that error codes can be read out in advance or afterwards. But only from those control units that are being tuned.

The PWG4 shows exactly what its status is via LED lighting.

For the Giulia/Stelvio 2.0T and JTDm versions. Not yet for the Quadrifoglio's.

At the moment we offer the PWG4 mainly for all Giulia and Stelvio 2.0T versions.

For the JTDm, the engine control unit must first be unlocked before it can be tuned via the PWG4. To do so the ECU muist be shipped to us. The gearbox can be tuned directly via the PWG4.

For the Quadrifoglio versions we are still working on a solution. Which be equal to the JTDm’s.

In case of internet communication troubles.

If the internet connection is interrupted during writing the software or loading LOGs, errors may occur
In case of a connection problem, the application will display a relevant error code and try to reconnect up to three times. If the connection is successful within a short time, it is possible to continue and restore the interrupted operation.
Instead, for other types of errors during writing, the application will ask for approval to continue the recovery operation.
If this attempt also fails, a notification will be sent to us so that we can send a new recovery file.

We strongly recommend connecting a battery charger with a minimum of 25A power during the entire procedure. This can be done on the battery charging points under the hood.

Powergate4 and SGW firewall

Unfortunately, PWG4 does not work if there is a SWG firewall present. But there is a simple solution for that.
